After completing their latest stories, kindergartners at Northeast Elementary School were proud to share their works.

As part of the “Writing for Readers” unit in Writer’s Workshop, students wrote stories about themselves by recounting familiar experiences. They learned how to use different literacy elements such as dialogue and sequencing words, as well as how to create illustrations to support their text.

“They were free to express themselves in any way they know how to tell a story,” ENL teacher Lissa Varas said. She accompanied the kindergartners as they visited pre-K classes in the school to read their stories aloud.
