Northwest Elementary School celebrates King Charles III’s coronation

Students in Class Watching the Coronation thumbnail246053

First graders in Mrs. Brooks' class at Northwest Elementary School in Amityville held their own celebration to recognize King Charles III’s coronation.

Their class celebration was part of an ongoing study of the world and different cultures. King Charles III’s coronation was a historical moment as the last coronation of the British monarch was held for Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Students learned about traditions, used royal language, practiced proper etiquette, and shared scones and biscuits. They also learned the proper way to stir and drink tea using their plastic crystal cups, spoons and saucers. Lastly, students enjoyed an engaging word study with “Coronation Fundations.”
