On Feb. 1, students at Northeast Elementary School in Amityville were eager to kick off their schoolwide Black History Month celebration.

Several guest readers visited classrooms at Northeast as they read numerous books such as “ABC Black History and Me” by Queenbe Monyei, “Jabari Jumps” by Gaia Cornwall, and “I Promise” by LeBron James. The guest readers included the district’s Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gina Talbert, the district’s Administrative Assistant Eddie Backus, and several community leaders.

Northeast thanks all of the guest readers who took time to read with the school’s pre-K students.
