College Search & Selection

  • Campus Tours provides you with maps showing school locations and surrounding areas, a pictorial tour of each school and links to college home pages.
  • Collegeboard.com includes a Scholarship Search option, College Board tests, programs, and online registration, a "Test Question of the Day", a searchable database of colleges, financial aid information (including a financial aid calculator) and more.
  • CollegeNET provides separate searchable databases for four-year colleges, community, technical and junior colleges including links to the actual college Web sites. The database can be surveyed by geography, tuition, enrollment, and college major.
  • Princeton Review Online contains information on exploring and selecting colleges, based upon major, location, enrollment, etc.
  • CollegeExpress.com is an on-line college and financial aid search program
  • University Links allows the user to research college Web sites based on location (by state), descriptive category (two-year, four-year, culinary, technical, IVY League) and alphabetically.
  • FastWEB includes a free scholarship search engine, an informational college directory of over 4,000 schools, college cost calculators and more.
  • FinAid.org: A comprehensive guide to financial aid and scholarship.
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the required application for all federally funded programs. Students now have the option of filing the application on-line.
  • Island Drafting & Technical Institute Scholarship Application
  • Long Island Family & Consumer Sciences Professionals Scholarship: Scholarships to graduating seniors who have excelled in Family & Consumer Sciences education.
  • Morris and Eve Brown Foundation Scholarships: Scholarships for graduating seniors who participated in college level language courses.
  • NCAA - The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a voluntary association of about 1,200 colleges and universities, athletic conferences and sports organizations devoted to the sound administration of intercollegiate athletics.

  • Peterson’s Education Center includes information about educational programs at all levels and searchable databases of colleges and academic programs.
  • Sallie Mae provides information about selecting and applying to colleges, as well as, financial aid and scholarships.
  • Scholarship.com includes a free scholarship search engine and financial aid resource information.
  • Study Abroad lists thousands of academic programs in more than 100 countries throughout the world, with links to study abroad programs, academic courses, and internships. The programs are searchable by country, subject and language.
  • U.S. News and World Report site includes college and university rankings, a college scholarship search engine and other useful resources.

  • America’s Job Bank Job seekers may create and post resumes, search for specific jobs by location, agency, or position, and examine job market information.
  • Careers.org: A career directory and links to other helpful career resources.
  • Careerbuilder.com – use the Advice and Resources link to complete a career assessment, get salary information, write a resume, and search for a job.
  • College Board Career Search Questionnaire - Try the "QUESTIONNAIRE" and check "ALL CAREERS" info.
  • Jobstar contains links to resources for planning a career, salary information, resume tips and real life stories from workers in many fields.

  • NYS Department of Labor - The New York State Department of Labor website contains information about the labor market, apprenticeships, and finding a job.
  • OnlineColleges.net: Information on online degree programs, career paths, articles and tools
  • Snagajob Provides part-time, full-time, summer, and internship opportunities to students. Complete a job search to find a job in your neighborhood.
  • State University of New York Career Development Organization provides links to career information about 14 career areas.
